Peruvian company, pioneer in the shipment of avocados to Japan

The first container of Peruvian avocados shipped to Japan arrived in Tokyo last September. The fruit was exported by CPF (Consorcio de Productores de Fruta SA), one of the leading fruit export companies in Peru, and certainly the most experienced avocado exporter since 2001.

For CPF, Japan, and Asia in general (taking into account the recent opening of the Chinese market for Peruvian avocados), is a very interesting market, not only for the consumption potential it represents, but because in these countries the value of brands is much appreciated and the reputation of both exporters and importers is often determined by a label's value in the market, and CPF considers itself very strong in this area, not only due to the strength of its brands in other markets, but also to the relationships it has developed with its Asian customers.

While aware of this potential, the sales team of CPF knows that Asia is a challenging market with very high quality demands on the part of consumers. "Not any company can export to Asia; you need sufficient volumes to limit the packaging to just a couple of calibres; special boxes and fruit with really good dry matter (greater than 23%), but sufficiently fresh to ensure a 'green' arrival, as well as the right partners, familiar with the product, and the sensitivity needed to manipulate the fruit in the most appropriate way."

CPF expects to start its next avocado campaign in early May 2016 and will undoubtedly increase its share in the Asian market.
