Fruitimprese data on foreign trade during the first nine months of 2015

Italy: Positive figures for exports and imports

Fruitimprese published data concerning the first nine months of 2015 - the sign was positive for both exports and imports, with a balance of €436 million (-25.7% with respect to 2014).

Between January and September, Italian companies exported 2.89 million tons of products (+6.2%) for a total value of €3.2 billion. (+12.4%).

Vegetable and citrus fruit exports decreased (-1.7 and -4.4% respectively), while quantities increased for fresh fruit (11%) and dried fruit (0.3%). In economic terms, all segments did well - vegetables 13.5%, citrus fruit 6.5%, fresh fruit 12.3% and dried fruit 18.7%.

For what concerns imports, Italy bought 2.58 million tons of produce (+6.9%) for a total value of €2.75 billion (+22.4%).

Volumes increased for fresh fruit (+9.1%), citrus fruit (+39.4%) and vegetables (+4.8%), while dried fruit and tropical fruit did not do so well (-5.4 and -2.3% respectively). For what concerns the value, the sign was positive for all segments, especially for citrus fruit (+42.4%), dried fruit (+37.4%) and fresh fruit (+17.5%).
