Turkey: Fig prices fall

Now that the demand for the Christmas season preparations are over, the prices for dried Turkish figs have dropped.

There are several different reports over the quality of the figs, some have concerns and others are more optimistic. For instance figs “good quality No. 6 natural“ are offered between 4.20 USD and 4.50 USD per kg.

As usual turkey is the main farmer and producer of dried figs. A smaller part is produced in Greece, Spain and other Mediterranean countries. Traditionally the demand for Turkish figs is higher in Germany and in France compared to, for instance, the UK. However the improved availability can increase the sales in other countries.
