Mike de Lange, BP de Lange:

"Egyptian spring onion season off to a calm start"

At B.P. de Lange from Bergen the Egyptian spring onion season is slowly getting going. "Due to the mild weather in Germany the German spring onions are on the market for a bit longer, but I expect the demand for Egyptian and Moroccan product to increase as of next week," says Mike De Lange. "The quality is very good, both for the long and short spring onions. The harvest in Egypt is good with normal volumes.

B.P. de Lange has been working with supplier Helwan Export for over forty years, where it is the exclusive supplier for the Netherlands. The Dutch trading company primarily sells the spring onions and green beans to exporters and wholesalers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

"We are switching to a different variety of beans this week, and this harvest is also good. The quality is good and the volumes will slowly be ramped up over the coming weeks. We supply them in cartons of 5 kg and packaging in 500 grams is possible," concludes Mike.
