Potato trade week 48, 2015

Austria: potato trade remains balanced

The potato trade in Lower Austria, the most northeastern state of Austria, is stable just as the previous weeks. The available supply is sufficient and potatoes stored in non-frost-free facilities are sold. The sales remain slow, both in Austria and with export the traders wait for new sales impulses. While in Austria there is hope for a recovery of the trade before the Christmas period, in export no rapid improvement of the situation can be expected. In Eastern and South Europe there is always an interest in Austrian potatoes but the deals are often unsuccessful due to the prices. The prices are stable at around 20 to 22 Euro per 100 kilos. It is unlikely that it will change soon.
