China: rising vegetable prices after first snowfall

First snowfall in Northern China last week caused vegetable prices to rise. Prices of tomatoes, cucumber and Chinese cabbage increased considerably. Prices of broccoli, potatoes and carrots remained stable.

Wholesale prices of Chinese cabbage increased from 0.35 to 0.80 Yuan (€0.10). The snowfall has put harvesting on hold and as a result vegetable prices are expected to rise further.
