Sunflower garden center
Almost unique range of fresh fruit and vegetables in Frankfurt
The Sunflower garden center offers an almost unique presentation of fresh fruit and vegetables in Frankfurt am Main. The garden center offers its customers not only flowers, plants and gardening tools but also fresh fruit, tasty vegetables and unusual exotic varieties, of high quality and seven days a week.
FreshPlaza visited the Sunflower fruit and vegetable market to make a photo reportage on 19 November.
The Sunflower fruit and vegetable market is the beating heart of the garden center. Situated in the north of Frankfurt, and close to the wholesale market, the garden center optimally uses its connections. Exotic dragon fruits, Belgian pears or German potatoes are available at the fresh counter. And interested customers can try almost all food before buying.
Furthermore is the fresh fruit and vegetable range seasonally oriented. At the moment all kinds of apple varieties as well as mushrooms, pumpkins, citrus fruit and dry fruit are available. And in the spring the sunflower center will offer a daily supply of asparagus and strawberries. In the summer melons, for instance yellow and red watermelons, Galia or Cantaloup are added to the range. Many regional products are promoted with the slogan: “Fresh on the table from the German countryside.”
The high quality comes at a price. The by airfreight imported mangos go for 6.90 Euros. The soft fruits such as raspberries cost about 5 Euros per 200 gram and 150-gram blackberries even cost 6.50 Euros. A green Fuerte Avocado costs 1.50 Euros and the darker Hass avocado are sold for 2 Euros. A grapefruit costs 1.30 Euros, a kilo kanzi apples 3.90 Euros and the apple variety Honey Crunch an euro more.
