No Horticulture 4.0 without Logistics 4.0

"In Horticulture 4.0, we will be able to deliver products to the end costumer, which could be either retailer or consumer, in a much more direct manner and also in many different ways," says Harrij Schmeitz. "However, the chain will not be ready for this challenge without further improvement of logistic processes. “Today for Tomorrow” becomes “This Morning for This Afternoon”. How can this be solved logistically? Cooperation!"

Sharing information!
The question, according to Harrij, is: how can we improve the organisation of information sharing in the logistical fresh produce chain? And how to achieve this without losing track of the costs? "These are questions that will be addressed by our many speakers during the 2nd EU Forum & Roundtable Discussions."

During the opening of the 2nd EU Forum, Frugi Venta/ NLIP presents the “AGRO-round Container Platform” which allows agricultural companies to follow containers real time in the Dutch harbours. This will enable electronic communication throughout the chain regarding the status of a container which will allow companies to improve their processes (both transport planning and track & trace). "This could be the starting point to improve our chain."

Costumers are also increasingly demanding. R. Limmen, VP Value Chain Development at Albert Heijn, guides you through the latest developments in the Albert Heijn-chain at “This Morning for This Afternoon” ( Dutch = Vanochtend voor Vanmiddag) and explains how the new Fresh DC concept plays a crucial part in this.

During the Roundtable Discussions on the 2nd of December, there will be a special Logistics 4.0 Roundtable with:
  • Logisitics Innovations 4.0: the next generation Reefers. By Th. Jensen, Industrial Ph.D., IT Management, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark
  • Fresh@Home 4.0: how fresh products are transported to the costumer along with ‘regular’ products. By D. Koek/ Fl. Zonneveld PostNL, Netherlands.
  • Connected Transport 4.0: demonstration of a working prototype of a truck that is fully equipped with the latest updates based on EPCIS for data sharing. By M. Amende Oracle, Germany.
  • Port Logistics 4.0: How the GS1 Global Location Number (GLN) will be used to optimise logistics at the Port of Rotterdam. By Captain B. Scherpenzeel, Director Nautical Developments, Policy & Plans Harbour Master’s Division, Port of Rotterdam.

Other knowledge sessions will also focus on logistics, mostly combined with tracking & tracing challenges. A. Sabirovic of Berenschot Intellerts discusses how big data can help you manage your supply in the logistics chain.

Registration & more information
Click here more information and registration, along with the latest program updates.

For those who only wish to participate in the Forum or rather prefer cherry-picking a number of Roundtable sessions: it is possible to register for one day. It is also possible to, for example, register management for the Forum on the first day and an employee for a more detailed workshop session on the second day. This can be indicated on the registration form.

"We look forward to seeing you on the 1st and 2nd of December on the SS Rotterdam. "
