No Horticulture 4.0 without Logistics 4.0

"In Horticulture 4.0, we will be able to deliver products to the end costumer, which could be either retailer or consumer, in a much more direct manner and also in many different ways," says Harrij Schmeitz. "However, the chain will not be ready for this challenge without further improvement of logistic processes. “Today for Tomorrow” becomes “This Morning for This Afternoon”. How can this be solved logistically? Cooperation!"

The question, according to Harrij, is: how can we improve the organisation of information sharing in the logistical fresh produce chain? And how to achieve this without losing track of the costs? "These are questions that will be addressed by our many speakers during the 2nd EU Forum & Roundtable Discussions."

During the opening of the 2nd EU Forum, Frugi Venta/ NLIP presents the “AGRO-round Container Platform” which allows agricultural companies to follow containers real time in the Dutch harbours. This will enable electronic communication throughout the chain regarding the status of a container which will allow companies to improve their processes (both transport planning and track & trace). "This could be the starting point to improve our chain."

Costumers are also increasingly demanding. R. Limmen, VP Value Chain Development at Albert Heijn, guides you through the latest developments in the Albert Heijn-chain at “This Morning for This Afternoon” ( Dutch = Vanochtend voor Vanmiddag) and explains how the new Fresh DC concept plays a crucial part in this.
