Bolivia: Blueberry gains market share in Tarija

Blueberries have gained market share in Tarija and Bolivia through productive enterprises that are still not massive, though successful. The berries that are conquering the country come mostly from the department of Tarija.

An essential condition for blueberry production is the acidification of the crop's soil so that it has the necessary nutrients to grow this shrub native to the underwoods of the northern hemisphere.

It is important to protect the fruits from birds, which have become the main problem for farmers, because they damage a lot of fruits if the necessary measures aren't taken to prevent them from doing so.

The raspberry is another alternative crop that is having great success and that has also adapted well to the conditions created for this fruit plant in Tarija.
