Drying wagon for seeds now available overseas
The mobile flat-bed drying wagon developed by ScoringAg has gotten a little more mobile. While the crop-drying equipment was, until recently, only available in North America, the drying wagon has been modified to fit in a shipping container in order to facilitate its use overseas.
“This is the first self-contained flat-bed dryer that can be shipped in a container,” said William Kanitz of Scoring Ag. “I engineered it to fit inside a 20-foot container so it can be shipped anywhere in the world. Before, the shipping cost for this kind of dryer was between $15,000 and $20,000. Now, the shipping cost is reduced to between $2,000 and $3,000.” Kanitz believes the impact of its availability to ship at a lower price will be significant and immediate.

“This will change the dry seed industry, the dry bean industry and the dry herb industry because you now have a cheap way to precision-dry your crops,” said Kanitz. “The biggest thing is cost. This technology used to cost a lot of money in a large part of the world. We have got to lower the cost of food production if we're going to have enough to feed the world, and this will lower production costs.” A diverse set of growers have been using the mobile drying wagon in the United States and Canada, and now growers around the world can take advantage of it.
“We came out with this three weeks ago and we're already talking to three groups so far,” said Kanitz. “We're targeting the entire globe with this, and we hope to get this out to 40,000 growers.”
