"Hans van Helvoirt: "Plenty of Portuguese oranges and mandarins available again"

Algarve holiday leads to Goldra Citrus import

The time for citrus from the Portuguese Algarve is here again. From early December on, Goldra Citrus is once again importing this citrus in all shapes and sizes to the Netherlands. The Portuguese citrus is known for its full, but above all, sweet flavour. Hans van Helvoirt, founder of the Goldra Citrus label, is enthusiastic about his company and the way he works together with his Portuguese associates: "Citrus is treated with so much love in Portugal by those people. Years ago, during a holiday in the Algarve, I enthusiastically walked into a packing company with my son and a good friend. What started with taking a look out of curiosity and in just a few hours, it became what it is today: Goldra Citrus."

Hans personally loads here straight from Portugal

The company is full of ambition: "Now, a few years on, we supply to Veiling Zaltbommel and service around fifty customers and wholesalers here in the Netherlands. By letting them taste and giving them an idea of how we operate together with the Portuguese, we are able to make people enthusiastic about our products. As you'll notice, I could talk about this for hours, but I'd rather call on traders to make an appointment with me so they can just taste and understand for themselves why an orange or mandarin from Portugal is so full of flavour and convincing."

The Portuguese citrus is packaged in a small crate

"Marketing is not my thing. I don't know anything about that. I'd rather leave that to the specialists," Hans says, when asked if he also busies himself with marketing. "For marketing and communication, I use Bugmarketing, part of www.bugassist.nl from Barendrecht. They specialize in taking care of things like flyers, posters, business cards, and they have designed our crate and the accompanying label as well. I chose this company because they do a lot in reintegration of the occupationally disabled, as well as delivering excellent work for a price that's far below that of the competition. Recommended!"
