Salvatore Secondulfo, owner of the Secondulfo PO cooperative with brothers Ciro and Maurizio and brother-in-law Pasquale, talks about the table grape season.
"Our attention lately has shifted towards seedless grapes - our company recently planted 15 hectares in Apulia."
"From an agronomical point of view, we did a great job with seedless varieties, and prices were satisfactory. The Russian ban did not affect us directly, because we managed to sell the product on the European market anyway, especially in Germany and France".
"We are always looking for new flavours, but we don't forget traditional grapes. In years like these, where there have been a lot of downy mildew problems, Pizzutella managed to reach satisfactory prices thanks to its taste and crunchiness."
As regards the Italia variety, Salvatore comments that "thanks to the work carried out by our team of agronomists to exalt sweetness and aroma, we can satisfy even our most demanding clients."
"That is why we are quite optimistic, especially since demand seems to have increased in the last few weeks. December is looking like a good month to end the 2014 campaign."
