South Korea will export Asian pears to Latin America for the first time

South Korea will export Asian pears to Mexico. This is the first time that the Asian Country will export Asian pears to Latin American, stated the QIA.

Previously, South Korea had signed agreements for the export of Korean pear with Chile in 1999, and with Peru in 2013. However, this is the first time that they will export pears to a Latin American country.

Mexican inspectors conducted analyses of the Asian pear from Cheonan City between the 21 and 24 of October and the pear will be delivered to Mexico on Friday, after the inspection process and export vessel, said the QIA, part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

The export will take place, finally, after the two countries reached an agreement on the inspection requirements this year, concluding the negotiations that began in October 2005, when South Korea requested Mexico permission to export their pears to that country.

South Korea currently exports Asian pears mainly to countries like the United States, Canada, Taiwan and Indonesia.
