Our immune system loves colourful vegetables

The aromas and colours of fruit and vegetables are true bodyguards for the immune system, German women's magazine Brigitte is reporting on its website. Aromas and colours of vegetables are even slightly better than those of fruit. A precondition is that the vegetable has not been completely rid of aromas, but was harvested when ripe, and reached the store or market via a short route.

So when buying, attention should be paid to domestic vegetables, or one should at least buy vegetables that haven't travelled too much. Frozen vegetables are also a good option, because these always end up being packed at the ideal harvest moment.
