Belgian pears can go to Canada
Canada is open to the import of Belgian pears. Karel De Gucht, European commissary for Trade, had already announced this, but the FAVV has now formally confirmed that the phytosanitary measures enforced in Belgium reduce the risk of sick pears to an acceptable level. There will be a trial period until Canada has faith that all demands are being met.
