During the 2012-2013 campaign

Peruvian mango exports to the US steadily growing

According to the latest report from the National Mango Board (NMB), mango exports to the US are steadily increasing by more than 150% per week.

In this respect, Juan Carlos Rivera, general manager of the Mango Producers and Exporters Association (Apem), confirmed that this growth would continue until week 16 of 2013 and that total exports should surpass 100,000 tonnes by the end of the campaign.

It is worth noting that the NMB expects 9 million boxes of Peruvian mangoes to be exported to the US until March next year, especially of the Kent variety with 90% of the total, followed by the Haden (5%), Tommy Atkins (4%) and Ataulfo (1%).

In this context, Apem's executive pointed out that the growth of exports is a consequence of the good relationship between Peru's National Agricultural Health Service and the US Department of Agriculture, due to the good handling of safety regulations and agricultural practices, "which has allowed for the standardisation of crops and for good expectations for each campaign to be maintained."
