Paraguay: Farmers go back to garlic production on a big scale

Engineer Arturo Garcete, Director of Agricultural Extension of MAG, highlighted the achievements made ​​by garlic producers, a product that again is being produced after four decades.

"We have 50 hectares and 250,000 kilos commercialized for 2012, it is a product that is well accepted and almost 5,000 kilos brought to market are already sold," explained Garcete.

The Agricultural Extension director praised the qualities of national garlic gastronomy, which enjoys of a high reputation amongst chefs for its quality and aroma.
 
Garcete said that the plan for next year is to double current production by working with the producers and the Ministry of Agriculture.
