According to Chile's Blueberry Committee, the blueberry season is developing normally so far, without any major problems caused by bad weather.
Little by little, more production areas are starting with the harvest, bringing in increased shipment volumes, which will presumably lead to significant volumes from week 48, possibly around 3,500 tonnes.
Up to week 45 (from 5 to 11 November) fresh blueberry exports totalled 648 tonnes, which is 26% more than last season up to the same date. During that week, close to 270 tonnes were shipped, mainly from the north of the country, although the central and southern areas are now starting to join in. For week 46, close to 700 tonnes will be shipped, according to early season estimates.
A grand total of 84,900 tonnes of blueberries are expected to be shipped.
