UK: Tesco wins again at World Food Awards

Tesco has been named National Retailer of the Year at the World Food Awards for the second year running.

In the past year alone Tesco has introduced over 1,000 new products and new ranges including Irish and Korean foods.

In June Tesco brought some of its most popular world cuisine to online customers through launching a dedicated World Foods Zone on the Tesco.com website. Customers can now order Asian, Kosher, Polish, Afro-Carribean and Halal ranges as part of their Tesco.com shop and have the products delivered straight to their door, or pick them up from more than a hundred grocery Click & Collect points across the country. The Zone links to the Tesco Real Food website, giving customers great recipe ideas for exciting new meals.

Another highlight was launching an exclusive new Asian brand, ‘Aasani,’ an offer of drinks, nuts and snacks. Customers have responded very positively to the new range, especially one of the most innovative new products – tinned ready-to-heat Kheer, an Indian rice pudding made with double cream, saffron and cardamom.

Manisha Doshi, World Foods Product Developer at Tesco, said:

“We’re delighted to win National Retailer of the Year at the World Food Awards for the second year running. We know our customers love the world cuisine we have on offer, and we’re looking forward to another year of introducing exciting and innovative new products and ranges.”
