Belgium: Wholesale market in Antwerp under scrutiny

The indoor hall of the wholesale market in Antwerp offers a great diversity of potatoes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, spices and specialties. The official market days are Tuesday and Thursday from 00:30 to 5:30 and on Friday from 13:30 to 15:30. Recently city officials charted and analysed the market and made an inventory of traders still active within.

There have been many discussions, but the future of the market still isn’t clear. Antwerp have made some plans of renewal, but nothing concrete has come out so far. Several parties are still convening and expectations are that the plans will be finalized and revealed soon.
