Spain: CASI and Vilmorin present tomato 'Rebelión'

The Spanish tomato cooperation CASI and the French seed breeding company Vilmorin recently presented the tomato 'Rebelión'. This tomato is grown and marketed by CASI and was brought into existence in collaboration with Vilmorin.

The presentation started with a speech from José Maria Andújar, the president of the cooperation, who emphasised the "importance of high quality products with a long shelf life, which makes sales on further away markets possible." Then Fabien Duffaut, the leading director of Vilmorin named the characteristics of the tomato 'Rebelión'. He said: "The tomato 'Rebelión' can be transported from Almeria to Russia and back and could still be sold in good condition, which shows how good the shelf life of this tomato is." Duffaut also emphasised the health aspects of the tomato and said that it has been accepted well on the various European markets.
