Argentina: Garlic sector to receive government funding

It seems growers of garlic growers can claim government funds to help them harvest the goods. 10 million pesos has been made available by the Argentinean Agencia San Juan Desarrollo de Inversiones. According to the Secretary of Economics, Leonardo Gioja, smaller companies will receive a 12% grant, bigger ones a 14% grant.

“We are talking about credits going to growers and handlers in the province of San Juan, for the coming garlic harvest.” The Banco Credicoop and the Banco San Juan offer loans op to 2.8 million dollar. The banco Nación is willing to finance growers up to 2.5 million dollar, and the Galicia bank credits 1.9 million.

The funds are meant to stimulate regional investments in the sector.
