The variety has been studied for more than 10 years. After being closely monitored by Anecoop at La Masía del Doctor, in the Valencian town of Museros, Spain, and matched with data from other locations, Francisco Borrás, Anecoop's commercial director, says that "we can confirm that it is the best early harvest clementine so far."
After its first year in the market, Francisco affirms that the Clemensoon "has had great success," therefore, 25 cooperatives partnered with Anecoop are already producing it.

Precocity: extra early ripening, as it can be harvested from early September until the end of October. Colour and peeling: the peel presents an intense orange-reddish colour, very attractive, with a soft consistence and light adherence, making it easy to peel. Pulp and juice: the pulp's colour is orange, with an excellent taste and a good amount of juice. Calibre: it presents optimal calibres with a high degree of homogeneity. Organoleptic qualities: its flavour, aroma and colour are magnificent. It has very thin membranes between segments, making it easy to eat. Post-harvest: the common procedures for clementine degreening can also be applied to Clemensoon to obtain the desired commercial colour. Productivity: it is a very productive clementine and of precocious entry in production. The flowering is abundant and the production regular, so no further treatments are needed.
"Since its production and commercialisation are handled by Anecoop, any problems of excess seen in other varieties will be avoided, which will help in its future profitability," affirms Francisco Borrás.
According to data from the Valencian Institute for Agricultural Research (IVIA), 35 different varieties are commercialised with a certain degree of success. Given this range of varieties, commercial and consumer expectations ought to be met; however, in the initial stage of the citrus season, and taking mandarins also into consideration, there are needs in the market ranging from more precocity to an improvement in the qualities of the fruit harvested before the Clemenules. The Clemensoon aims to fill this commercial gap.
