"GlobalGAP certified product of top quality"

Netherlands: Special Fruit starts new season of Brazilian figs

The new season of Brazilian figs starts at the end of October at Special Fruit. Currently, the figs undergo their last warm days and nights before they are picked and flown to Europe. The purple figs imported by Special Fruit come from a Brazilian producer who has over 35 years of experience.

"They already told us that the harvest looks promising and will deliver delicious, good quality figs. Our partner has not had to deal with residue findings in recent years. They recently invested in a new fig plantation, and obtained the GlobalGAP certificate. By working together, Special Fruit will continue its efforts to protect the environment and to serve the interests of all those involved in production."

"Figs are very healthy. In older cultures, they were used as medicine. They contain a large amount of fibre, potassium, calcium, manganese and vitamin B6. They are supposedly good for the throat, heart and they help regulate blood sugar. Figs are incredibly tasty while fresh, but they can also be cooked au gratin, marinated, dried or grilled. You can make them into a delicious jam or compote, which is delicious in combination with a cheese platter."
