New-built glasshouse Thanet Earth realised by the Bom Groep

At the moment there are building activities going on at Thanet Earth in Kent, England. This is part of the 'Local for Local' project started in 2008 with a total area including infrastructure of 90 HA by a group of Dutch entrepreneurs in Birchington U.K.

The members of Thanet Growers One Ltd. are Rainbow Growers, Kaaij UK and A&A Growers. Together with the selling organisation Fresca Group Ltd. they are building an extension of 8 HA to grow various varieties of tomatoes on the vine.

Instructions to build the glasshouse complex, business area and heating installation were again given to the Bom Groep, after they in 2008, realised projects of 9.5 HA and 6 HA for Kaaij Group and A&A Growers respectively.

In addition Bom Groep have the leading role in this project of Principal Contractor, which means that Bom Groep will organise and co-ordinate all matters in terms of the strict British Health and Safety laws and regulations for all employed (sub)contractors.

The newly-built project consists of a 8.54 m grill rafter with 2 roofs of 4.27 m and a column height of 7.00 m, fitted on a white coated substructure. The roof will be glazed with Low Iron glass minimal 91% and will be fitted with 'hardened' ventilation windows without frames. The glasshouse will be fitted with green light, so that cultivation can be all year round and the UK market be served.

"We hope together with all our subcontractors and fellow installers to make this a beautiful project. If all goes according to plan planting will be done early January 2013."

BOM Group will be at the at the Horti Fair, stand no.11.0115
