GreenWatt introduces brand new biogas installation:

"Sustainable and profitable solution to waste problem"

The GreenWatt company specialises in the design, construction and start-up of small-scale biogas installations. "We convert a problem into profit," says Stijn Verfaillie, Business Development Manager at GreenWatt. "The problem is that there is more and more waste and businesses do not know how to handle it. We have a sustainable and profitable solution for waste and high energy prices, issues that producers are currently dealing with."

Focus on Benelux

"We are active in several countries and we are now also focusing on the food industry in the Benelux. This includes growers of onions, potatoes, fruits and vegetables, amongst others. It also includes the processed food industry who make these products into things like smoothies and juices. In short, they deal with companies that have a lot of waste to be processed."

Distinctive

Stijn indicates that they take a distinctive position with the biogas installations of GreenWatt. "Through a unique, patented technology, we solve the initial waste problem in companies, while the biogas installations of others are aimed specifically at generating energy. We go for maximum utilisation of all input and output streams which is not always the case in 'classic' biogas installations, jeopardizing the profitability of the latter in some instances. Our facilities provide a win-win situation. Moreover, we guarantee results to our clients when it comes to comparing the profits on paper with what they are in reality. The points we focus on with a biogas installation are: waste, energy and digestate. The latter insures that residue from the installation is processed as well. "

Installing on location

"The installation of the biogas installation can be done at the site of production. The advantage is that small businesses can also help and a maximum output is achieved. We believe that companies should focus on their core business and not be concerned with the waste problem. That is what we are here for and we know what we are doing. Chicory growers Joluwa in Belgium and melon grower Boyer in France are examples of major projects realised in the fresh produce industry. Additionally, 4 new wharfs are being prepared for products such as carrots, mustard and chicory roots."

He explains that GreenWatt can build an installation from 2000 tons of waste onwards. "This is relative, and will vary from product to product. It is an indication. We conduct various research in advance for the client and we ensure that all our numbers match up. Only then can we give tailor-made advice."
