Peru: Arequipa to ship 500 tons of garlic to South Korea

Representatives of South Korean company “IL SHIN” have met with authorities of Arequipa, the capital city of the Arequipa Region in southern Peru. Arequipa’s agricultural community, in cooperation with local growers, has agreed to ship 500 tons of garlic to the Asian country.

The head of the SGPAA, Mirko Avendaño, said negotiations with the chairman of “IL SHIN”, Cho Deok Gun, were fruitful. “The people from “IL SHIN” have agreed to conduct the purchase when the Valle de Tambo y la Irrigación Majes harvest is in.”

SGPAA’s chief expressed his contentment with the deal, and stated that he expects the transaction to have a positive impact on the Arequipa region. Avendaño also expects the deal to be a first step in a productive trade between South Korea and Arequipa.
