The present trend of PV-installations on buildings carry through in horticulture. Because of the continually increasing cost of electricity it became for horticultural companies more and more appealing to generate their own electricity.
Even when supply compensation decreases the generation of own electricity in horticulture will become more important because of increasing electricity prices. When investing in a sun roof durable product quality of the materials used is really necessary. Only in this way the investment in a sun roof for a glasshouse remains protected and will it show the expected commercial savings effect for decades.
The Austrian manufacturer PV Products GmbH offer sun modules, which are especially suitable for use on glasshouses. They are only manufactured in Austria and are, after they are manufactured, fitted by a glasshouse building company. With these sun modules existing glasshouses can be changed to sun energy quickly and cheaply, but also new glasshouses can be fitted with them. Amongst others the company 'Gartenbau Klein' in the Bavarian Appenfelden has already been fitted with this special system.
