Change and gains for Israeli exporter with new packaging and new products. On the Organic front, for example, Arava Export Growers decided to consolidate a strict supply chain with the option of pre-packs at the growers. As a result, demand has tripled from previous years, according to the company. Bio lines such as graffiti eggplant, cucumbers, pointy mixes and bell peppers are increasing in demand this December.
This year the Israel-based company also begun exporting Fresh Medjool Dates for the first time. A project they have high hopes for. The dates can be added to their existing line of fresh cut herbs, habanero peppers, strawberries, peppers and more.
Gazan Strawberries
They also take pride in their cooperation with the Gaza Strip over strawberries and herbs.
"As a matter of fact, it is imperative that we take a stand and show solidarity on matters such as this. Offshore cooperation also includes Ethiopia and Kenya but, we mainly concentrate on products coming from Israel."
Growth in fresh herbs
"It is rather amazing but, I would not classify our growth as a trend anymore. On the contrary, the growth of fresh herbs has been going on for so many years in consistency that rather than a trend it is a way of life. Our core growers are undertaking major improvements to meet demands set by the future consumer ... today's market is conscious and knows how to differentiate lower to higher quality."
Currency
On the one hand, the currency situation is, to say the least, an ongoing disaster according to some. The Euro, GBP, CAD and even USD are declining and showing no consistency, they said. This poses unique challenges for importers and exporters.
Professionalism through challenges
On the other hand however, they believe the complexity of this year's challenges have actually brought higher professionalism in all branches of the industry. "Where consumers demand zero tolerance, exporters realize the faults in their operations and find strategies to improve", says Omer Kamp.
