Argentina will join the International Prune Association in 2017

From 2017, Argentina will join the International Prune Association (IPA) through the newly formed East Mendoza Prunes Exporting Consortium called Ciruelas del Sur.

This local consortium will be the first member of IPA on behalf of Argentina. It is made up of the Eastern producers: Pedro Marcuende of Finca Doña Carmen; Juan Jose Villar; Finca Savoini, Fruttino SA, Federico Pontoni; Watercolor Posta Sonia and Liliana Ferro.

The IPA consists of the producing countries Chile, France, Italy, USA, Australia, Serbia and South Africa.

Last Friday about 30 foreign producers and businessmen from Australia, New Zealand, Italy, South Africa and Chile, arrived in Mendoza to tour the East and South oasis, and in order to get to know the Mendoza plum production chain.
For two very intense days starting on Friday 3, and accompanied by ProMendoza technicians, foreigners toured the Mancifesta Finca which includes the new Mendoza Plum Exporter Consortium, and two other farms of the province's Eastern Region.

On Saturday they went to San Rafael to see the plum processing factory belonging to the Chimeno family, and visited two other General Alvear farms during the rest of the morning.

With this visit, Mendoza managed to visualize plum producing countries, and a great exchange of experiences.
