White cabbage prices in Ukraine declined this week as market supply increased, according to EastFruit analysts. Producers report that much of the available crop consists of mid-late varieties that are not suitable for long-term storage, adding pressure to sell quickly.
Currently, prices range from UAH 5–10/kg (€0.11–0.22/kg), down about 16% compared to the end of last week. Harvesting remains active across many farms, contributing to further increases in supply. Demand, however, is limited, with wholesalers and retailers purchasing only small volumes. Buyers cite short shelf life and variable quality as key reasons for their restrained procurement.
Compared to the same period last year, current prices are around 66% lower. Market participants expect additional declines as harvesting accelerates under favourable weather conditions. The continued increase in market supply is likely to keep prices under pressure unless demand improves.
