Jump in supply of Quebec Haskap in 2025

Long after Quebec's fresh Haskap harvest season finished up in July, there is more frozen Haskap supply in the marketplace. "We are almost 1.5 to twice the volume of Haskap that we were shipping last year. It's a really good increase in our volume," says Marc-Antoine Pelletier of Ferme Les Délices du Rapide S.E.N.C.

This also follows strong 2024 volumes of Haskap.

What's behind the increased volume is growing demand for the unique fruit. "All of that volume was available in the past. It's just today, Haskaps are being integrated into more and different products," says Pelletier, adding that organizations such as the Haskap Quebec Association have also worked to create awareness of the product. "People are asking their retailers about them and the industry sees more opportunities for the fruit in the marketplace."

New options for Haskap
Indeed once found most likely in jams and pies, today, Haskap can be found in a number of products including berry powders, juices, freeze-dried berries, liqueurs and more.

As for pricing on Quebec Haskap berries, it is slightly softer this year.

"We are at the peak of pricing as the volumes get bigger and bigger each year so we may be at the price point where supply meets demand," says Pelletier, adding that growers are balancing this with increased production costs as well.
