Egypt exports 7.5 million tons of produce in 2025

Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, announced that Egypt's agricultural exports have reached about 7.5 million tons so far this year, an increase of around 650,000 tons compared to the same period last year.

The figures are based on a report by Mohamed El-Mansy, Head of the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine. The report noted that citrus fruits led the list with more than 1.9 million tons, followed by fresh potatoes at over 1.3 million tons. Other products included beans, both fresh and dry, sweet potatoes, onions, grapes, mangoes, fresh tomatoes, pomegranates, fresh garlic, fresh strawberries, and guavas.

Farouk said that the growth in agricultural exports reflects the ongoing development of the sector and its competitiveness in global markets. He underlined the government's intention to continue developing the sector, open new markets, and maintain compliance with quality standards to ensure wider access.

According to the minister, Egypt currently exports more than 405 agricultural products to over 167 countries. Recent market openings include pomegranates to South Africa and fresh onions and garlic to the Philippines. After prolonged negotiations, the Mexican market has also been opened for hibiscus exports. In addition, Venezuela recently opened its market to all types of Egyptian citrus, including grapefruit, lemons, and mandarins.

Farouk pointed out that these developments are the result of joint efforts from farmers, producers, exporters, and regulatory bodies, including the Agricultural Quarantine Authority and certified laboratories under the Ministry of Agriculture. He added that the Ministry will continue to support agricultural production and exports to contribute to food security and the national economy.
