Data for July 2025 shows that Tesco sold the largest volume of British apples among UK supermarkets, at around 1,350 tons. Sainsbury's followed with just over 600 tons, while Aldi ranked third, selling under 200 tons. Morrisons, Co-op, and Waitrose made up the next tier, each selling between 100 and 150 tons, with other retailers including Lidl, M&S, Asda, and Iceland selling smaller volumes.

When viewed as a percentage of all British apples sold, Tesco's share was close to 50%, considerably higher than its total grocery market share. Sainsbury's also outperformed its grocery share, while Aldi's apple sales were roughly in line with its overall position in the grocery sector. Some supermarkets, such as Lidl, Asda, and Iceland, sold a lower proportion of British apples compared to their total grocery market share.

The data suggests that while some retailers match their overall grocery share in British apple sales, others either overperform or underperform in this category.
