Kyrgyzstan's vegetable imports from China surged fourfold year-on-year in May 2025, reaching nearly $48 million, according to China's General Administration of Customs.
The sharp increase was driven primarily by potato imports, which accounted for $35 million of the total.
In physical terms, vegetable imports rose by 6.5 times, totaling 49,600 tons. Along with potatoes, Kyrgyz importers significantly increased purchases of peppers (over $6 million) and tomatoes ($4.4 million).
