Guangxi pushes AI integration to boost ASEAN fruit sales in China

Guangxi is aiming to strengthen its role as China's primary gateway for ASEAN fruit imports by leveraging artificial intelligence across the supply chain, China News Network (Toutiao) reported and shared by Finance Sina. During the launch of the "ASEAN Fruits Gather in Guangxi" event in Nanning on June 18, Chen Gang, Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee, emphasised that AI applications will be promoted in a variety of activities, including planting, harvesting, processing, and distribution.

The initiative seeks to create vertical AI-driven solutions that will support the model of "produced in ASEAN - distributed in Guangxi - sold well in China," enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of ASEAN fruit exports entering China.

The event, part of China's broader "Buy in China" campaign, gathered suppliers and business associations from ASEAN countries, including Thailand and Vietnam. Over 80 companies signed more than 20 cooperation agreements valued at over 15 billion yuan, reflecting strong market momentum.

Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of Commerce of China, highlighted that such cooperation under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) framework will deepen integration in areas like cross-border logistics, supply chains, and digital trade. Cambodia's Secretary of State for Commerce, Sheng Xingbo La, also noted that as durian import protocols are finalised, bilateral trade with China is set to grow further.

The event also marked the launch of the China (Guangxi)-ASEAN fruit model and a new China-ASEAN AI cooperation ecosystem, setting the stage for deeper digital collaboration in the fresh produce sector.
