The Valencian company Logifruit, which rents, sanitizes, and stores containers and pallets to transport consumer goods in the supply network, has closed 2024 with a 7% growth in its sales volume, to 163 million.
In 2024, the company, which is committed to a sustainable logistics model, managed more than 374 million movements of its reusable packaging and served 1,098 customers in Spain and seven other countries, with a workforce that grew to 1,458 people.
The company also earmarked 34 million euros for investments aimed at strengthening its operational capacity, including automation processes and the renewal and expansion of key assets for its logistics model. The goal of this investment is to reinforce its sustainable logistics model, based on customer proximity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Logifruit has 20 million containers to serve its customers. Once the containers have finished their journey, they are used to manufacture new containers, thus closing the circle of its circular economy model.
Almeirim, the company's second platform in Portugal and its 16th platform in total
In 2024, Logifruit opened in Almeirim its second platform in Portugal and 16th platform globally. It's the company's most automated platform and required an investment of more than 10 million euros. It has a surface area of more than 16,000 m², is staffed by a team of 70 people, and it's the company's most advanced platform in terms of digitalisation and sustainability. Its implementation has strengthened the company's operational capacity in the country and reduced logistics routes, with the consequent savings in emissions.
The worst event of the year was the impact of the DANA in October, which fully affected the province of Valencia, including some of the company's employees and facilities. The company's team efforts and activation of the contingency plans allowed Logifruit to maintain activity at all times, always taking extreme safety measures for its employees.
Low-emission logistics
"2024 was an intense year, marked by important challenges and significant progress. The opening of Almeirim and the consolidation of our circular model reinforce our commitment to efficient, responsible logistics, committed to people and the environment. I would particularly like to highlight our team's commitment throughout the year, especially in the last quarter. Thanks to this commitment and the unity demonstrated, we managed to overcome one of the greatest challenges in recent times," stated Pedro Ballester, CEO of Logifruit.
