Utah runner Jordan Maddocks reclaimed his Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon run in a fruit costume at the 2025 Boston Marathon. Dressed as a banana, Maddocks completed the race in 2:33:19, surpassing the previous record of 2:35:38 set by Matthew Seidel in 2024.
Maddocks originally set the record in 2020 with a time of 2:41:27, but lost it due to an injury in 2024. His comeback was fueled by determination and a desire to inspire others. He began running in a banana costume in 2019 to support a friend undergoing lung transplant surgery.
Beyond his fruit-themed achievements, Maddocks also holds the record for the fastest marathon dressed as a vegetable, completing the 2022 Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon in 2:44:12 while dressed as a carrot.
