The festive season is always a good time for sales, but Selenella did not expect such a success. "We exceeded 5200 tons in December," says Massimo Cristiani, president of the Consorzio Patata Italiana di Qualità (Italian Quality Potato Consortium), "which proves that consumers trust our product and identify with our brand. This is a great achievement and encourages us to continue and work even better."

January's decumulation is in line with expectations. "As usual, the first ten days of the year were slower, but then things started picking up. If we look at the figures, we should have enough product to make it through to the new season, which starts at the beginning of April with new potatoes grown in Sicily," he says.
"This year we have more potatoes in stock, which is good because the 2023 crop was rather poor compared to early February 2024. Instead, we have more products this year and orders are also increasing. Sales of carrots and onions under the Selenella brand are also positive: they are still small compared to potatoes, but the progress is encouraging."
In its current campaign, the Bologna-based Italian Quality Potato Consortium, which has ten members and includes 320 growers across Italy, tells of all the commitment and passion it takes to grow tasty vegetables. With record sales in December, Selenella proves that the products of the land, when well communicated, can produce real and lasting results, strengthening its market position in the packaged potato sector with a 20% market share in terms of value.
