Pear harvest season continues in Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan

The pear harvest season is ongoing in the Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region, Kyrgyzstan. This year's yield is significantly better compared to last year, when many fruits were damaged by frost. Farmers report that pears are being sold in local markets and exported to Kazakhstan and Russia.

"This year, prices for pears initially ranged from 0.54 to 0.97 euros per kilogram. Now, the price for one kilogram of the 'Forest Beauty' variety is 0.38 EUR, while the 'Talgarka' variety is priced at 0.32 EUR," said a local vendor.

Farmers in the region grow pear varieties such as ' Talgarka ', 'Forest Beauty', 'Dubok', 'Mishutka', 'Duchess', and 'Medovyi'. According to local farmer Azamat Zulkainarov, all varieties except 'Medovyi' have already been harvested and sold. The 'Medovyi' variety is known for its sweetness but is not suitable for long-distance transport, and therefore it is not exported.

The main pear varieties exported are 'Forest Beauty,' sold at 0.65 EUR per kilogram, and ' Talgarka,' priced at 0.75 EUR due to its sweetness and better transportation qualities.
