Agricultural cooperation between China and Uzbekistan fosters economic growth

In the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, Uzbekistan is enhancing its pragmatic cooperation with China, notably in agriculture. This collaboration is evident in the establishment of the China-Uzbekistan Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park in the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan. This park, a product of the partnership between Yangling Modern Agriculture International Cooperation Co., Ltd. and Pengsheng Industrial Park, began operations in October 2021. It serves as a hub for the exchange of advanced farming technologies and agricultural trade between the two nations.

Chen Bing, the deputy general manager of the company, highlighted the park's role in facilitating the overseas incubation of agricultural projects and the exchange of new crop varieties, technologies, and agricultural machinery. It also aims to bolster cross-border planting and provide a platform for domestic agricultural enterprises for technological demonstration, trade exchanges, and capacity cooperation.

The demonstration park spans 233 hectares, featuring modern agricultural greenhouses, a drip-irrigated grape demonstration field, and a new crops trial demonstration field. It also promotes advanced irrigation technologies among the local community. Recently, the park successfully planted 6,000 high-quality apple seedlings from Shaanxi province, China.

Jorabek Shakarbekov, a local apple farmer, shared his experience with the imported seedlings, noting the significant improvement in apple production due to the high-quality varieties introduced from China. This initiative has not only increased local apple yields, but also generated employment opportunities and enhanced incomes for the community.
