A Chilean company with two online platforms, to connect producers and buyers of fresh produce, as well as assist with shipping and trucking claims, is seeing greater interest from Asian customers. Sebastian Osman, Commercial manager of Safexport and Reimex in Chile, says they had very big interest in their platforms from Asian buyers during last week’s Asia Fruit Logistica 2023 exhibition.
“For Safexport we help shippers of products for claims with shipping companies and trucking companies around the world. With Reimex we help buyers and providers to find each other and facilitate trade. E.g. if you want mangoes from Chile to China you can connect on our platform and find the providers that you want,” explains Osman.
He says there is a growing need for a readily available source of reputable and vetted supplying and buying companies in both hemispheres. “Today we have around 7,000 customers on our platform. It grows every day. Even if the company is not on the platform we can find them for you. You can look for the background of a specific company. We look at companies, we check them etc. and then make a match.”
Osman says they are very pleased with their involvement at Asia Fruit Logistica because of an already existing customer base across Asia. “We have a lot of clients in China and Hong Kong as well as in India. Because we are based in Chile and Peru who are big producers, there are many buyers from Asia who contact us because they are looking for products from South America. They then ask us for details of company’s etc.”
Reimex has an annual fee to help match clients with each other. The same goes for Safexport that is really built to enable and facilitate better trade says Osman. “We had 32 meetings planned during Asia Fruit for the three days. This is the fair where we have had the most meetings that shows the good interest in our platforms,” concluded Osman.
