Uttar Pradesh share in national fruit and vegetable cultivation up by 2%

As per the Agroforestry Report 2023, cultivation of fruits and vegetables has gradually become a field of immense possibilities for the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Government has been consistently encouraging the farmers to diversify cultivation of crops according to market demand for better income.

The Uttar Pradesh government has ensured production of high-quality plants in the Centers of Excellence and the Mini Centers of Excellence, which are then provided to farmers at minimum rates. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has encouraged farmers to cultivate fruits and vegetables since his first term. According to a report released on Wednesday, the share of state in the cultivation of fruits and vegetables has increased from 7.2 to 9.2 per cent in the country within a decade.

Due to the encouragement from the government and increasing possibilities, the area under cultivation of fruits and vegetables has increased by more than 101,000 hectares and the yield by more than 0.7 per cent in the last six years.
