Bulgaria imported thousands of tons of fresh fruits and vegetables in 2023

During the first two months of 2023, over 55,000 tons of fresh vegetables were imported. The import of vegetables increased by almost 6% compared to the same period in 2022.

The increase was mainly due to the import of potatoes, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and cauliflower. However, there was a decrease in the import of cabbage, radish, and lettuce.

According to data, almost 75% of all fresh fruits imported were citrus fruits and bananas. Apples accounted for a significant share of 12% of all imported fruits.
