Angola is the largest African producer of bananas and the seventh largest in the world, with a supply of over four million tons. National production has been at these benchmark levels since 2014.
According to the FAO, regarding the production in 2021, Angola is ahead of Rwanda (3.5 million), Tanzania (2.1 million), Kenya (1.9 million), Egypt (1.2 million), Burundi (1.2 million), Cameroon (1.1 million), Sudan (934,000), and Ethiopia (849,000). The fruit is already being exported to countries like Portugal, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and efforts are being made to reach the United States, the largest consumer in the world.
