New seed corn procession options hit the market

ProEx Food® announces a new seed-specific model of its Intellipro™ Husker along with additional tools for seed corn processors.

“We have received several inquiries from seed processors asking about making seed-specific versions of our Intellipro Husker. These processors are looking for an easier-to-maintain husker with our digital technology offerings designed to decrease cob soldiering and premature shelling. Additionally, they need units with reasonable lead times and fast parts support,” says Ross Lund, co-founder & CEO of ProEx Food. “We also have our air pre-cleaner, conveyors & distribution systems, metering hoppers, infeed shaker and an AI-powered robotic green ear sorting system. We also offer a proprietary Intellipro Scanning system.”

Processors are looking for an easier-to-maintain husker with digital technology offerings designed to decrease cob soldiering and premature shelling.

These products are the result of rigorous R&D at the company and collaboration with many customers and engineers. This includes several design engineers from the former Hughes Equipment.

“Making a proper unit for seed processors isn’t as easy as taking our all-stainless design for sweet corn and manufacturing it out of galvanized steel,” says  Daniel Ghadiri, co-founder, president & CTO. “There are different considerations for unit geometry and feature sets. We discussed this with our engineering and delivery teams, seed processors and additional stakeholders with experience in seed processing. We then designed our seed unit from the ground up.”

The huskers typically ship within three months and the husker rolls typically ship within a month (or less for common in-stock rolls).

Ghadiri adds that it is also releasing new designs for its distribution systems and have a new AI-powered robotic green-ear sorting option. The robotic options are gentler than color sorting technologies and result in reduced premature shelling of the cobs that need to be re-husked. “This can be added to our central controls and integrated with our Intellipro Connect System to give better operational data and more to customers,” says Ghadiri.

As Nick Maglio, director of marketing says, seed processors need to improve recovery and it comes down to two factors “We hear of 30 percent loss commonly and that can be improved. The second factor is speed. Our huskers typically ship within three months and our husker rolls typically ship within a month (or less for common in-stock rolls). Plus, we continue looking for new value-driven solutions for modern processors."
