The USDA has released key findings for the Southern Region crops.
Regarding avocados, Florida's utilized production for 2022 totaled 17,840 tons, up 25 percent from 2021 while its associated value of production was up 7 percent to $14.3 million.
Georgia's utilized production, at 56.2 million pounds, was down 31 percent from 2021. The value of utilized production was down 12 percent from 2021 to $91.4 million. Utilized production of blueberries in Florida for 2022 was up 2 percent to 26.2 million pounds, while value of production increased 8 percent to $84.3 million.
In Georgia, utilized peach production was down 24 percent to 22,000 tons while value of production decreased 3 percent from 2021 to $34.5 million. South Carolina’s utilized production for 2022 was down 15 percent to 61,540 tons and its associated value of production decreased 7 percent to $98.6 million.
Utilized production of pecans in Georgia for 2022 was up 47 percent to 132 million pounds. Georgia's pecan production accounted for 48 percent of the Nation’s total production. With the considerable increase in production, value of utilized production was up 15 percent from 2021 to $213 million.
Florida's utilized production of strawberries in 2022 totaled 302 million pounds, up 21 percent from 2021. The value of utilized production in 2022 was up 28 percent from 2021 to $511 million.
