India: Grapes get cheaper due to excess arrivals

Prices of Indian grapes have gone down by 30-40% in the domestic markets compared to last month. In the wholesale market, one kg of quality grapes is available at Rs2S-30. In the retail market, the prices vary between Rs40-50 per kg, depending on the quality.

Dutta Kalamkar, the head of the fruits section at Market Yard: "We are getting consignments from Pune, Satara, Solapur and Sangli districts. The prices are expected to remain low for another two months as arrival is going to increase in coming days.” “Usually, we get Rs150-180 per kg for exporting jumb variety of grapes. However, this year it is between Rs90-110," said Jitendra Bidwali, director, Maharashtra Grapes Growers' Association.
