The vast catalogue of Pack System, a company specializing in the processing of cardboard, plastic and wooden packaging, also features the innovative Ezy:Split® punnet developed by ILIP. It is a niche format suitable for premium products that need to stand our from standard ones.
FreshPlaza has talked about it with Antonio Castelluccio (in the photo above), sales manager at Pack System, which has been operating in Basilicata for over 20 years. "We are the exclusive suppliers of Ezy:Split within our areas of competence. This punnet, on top of being customizable to better convey the characteristics of the product and the company, also meets the needs for increased packaging sustainability. It is in fact the first hybrid plastic and cardboard punnet for the packaging of premium fruit."
Thanks to the cardboard component, which guarantees excellent resistance, the plastic part could be reduced to 45%. In addition, Ezy:Split is easy to recycle, as you only need to separate the plastic punnet from its support and sort the materials after use.

"Premium products mean those with high qualitative and organoleptic qualities which need to be suitably communicated to consumers and, mostly, branded PDO or PGI products or those part of specific clubs. So far, because the product is innovative, it does not make up a lot of the orders, but we believe it will register satisfactory feedback already in the next few months and become one of our most popular products."
The manager explains that, at the moment, both versions of Ezy:Split® (with or without handle) are mostly sold in Basilicata for strawberries. "We are concluding agreements with entrepreneurs in Calabria for stone fruit, but they can also be used for cherries and grapes."
