Tenderstem® sees strong results on the ‘Emerald Isle'

Tenderstem® broccoli, has seen strong results and consistent growth year on year in Ireland. This comes after a strengthening of the partnership between Coregeo; the master licensor for the brand across UK and Europe, Sakata Vegetables Europe; the global brand owner and the new licensee in Ireland, Global Fresh Exotics (GFE).

Tenderstem broccoli has entered into a committed long-term partnership with GFE after identifying the company delivers the same consistent high levels of food safety, traceability and ambition for the beloved brassica. The dedication, expertise and commitment it takes to successfully grow, harvest, pack and deliver Tenderstem® broccoli to customers is reflected in the long-term commitment seen from GFE.

Richard Moore MD of GFE, David Thorpe , Commercial Manager GFE, Dave Samuels EMEA Brand Manager Sakata Vegetables Europe, Alex Richardson Agronomist & Supply Coordinator Sakata Vegetables Europe.

Richard Moore, Managing Director of Global Fresh Exotics commented: “We’re delighted to represent Tenderstem® in Ireland. We have big ambitions for this mighty vegetable, programming crops both here in Ireland and sourced from licensed growers internationally, delivering a consistent high quality product year round. Our company founder Juni Mangat and the team at GFE have consistently dedicated significant company resources towards the development of Tenderstem in Ireland. We will continue to do so for years to come. We are now proud that Tenderstem officially has its home in Ireland with us."

The success of Tenderstem, bred using traditional techniques over many years, and the continued investment and development from the Sakata team to strengthen and protect this unique and robust variety of broccoli, is why there is such tight control around intellectual property rights, including the DNA of the plant, and why the long-term commitment from licensed partners and growers is equally as important to the brand.

Sam Wood, Assistant Trade Marketing Manager for Tenderstem® Ireland commented: “The past 12-months has seen a strong performance for Tenderstem in Ireland. By working closely with Richard and the GFE team, we’re confident we can continue to deliver both value and volume to our retail and wholesale partners.”
